According to the recent bar exam which was released this 2010, the first and second place from the top ten bar examinees who passed the highest score were from San Beda College of Law. Out of the ten topnotchers, 7 came from Ateneo de Manila University. Wow! To complete the ten, 2 bar examinees came from the University of the Philippines. Tuition fees from the University of the Philippines College of Law by the way is much cheaper from other law schools because UP is a state university. Tuition fees are subsidized by the government of the Philippines. Yay!

interesting! i wouldnt think to write about something like this!
Hi Fehl. I don't know a whole lot on the law, but I do have a strong sense of morality. This is a well made hub, you must have spent ages writing and compiling it. That's why I prefer writing poetry. :) I am so lazy.... LOL.
The law is a powerful weapon for good when you know all he rules. Are you a law-type person? You never told me. Must be lots of lawyers in the Philippines. :) Take care, Fehl. XXOO
Thank you for the info. This was perfect.
The released results of CHED in 2010 does not hold those ranks constant. This 2011, UP ranked 1st (I think the passing rate is 99%...HELL!), ADMU ranked 2nd, SBC ranked 3rd, FEU ranked 4th, and UST ranked 5th on the list of the top 5 law schools in the Philippines.
The Bar Exam itself can be seen as 80% luck and 20% academic effort depending on the anonymous and top secret judge or justice having different expertise in law (International, Civil, Criminal, Taxation, etc.) who made the exam. When the Bar Exam season comes, usually there are leakages on who made the exams and what his expertise is which is the most probable dominant topic in the exam. Bar takers cross their fingers as they scrutinize a few areas of law and consider the others as minor just-in-case topics (My God! No one can prioritize all the aspects of law.), hoping that it will come out as the main topics of the exam.
Hope this modifies other peoples' outlook regarding the law students and graduates' world in the Philippines.
Thank you.
I agree with this article. In fact its the same with my own TOP 10 LISTS so far. ATENEO runs smoothly in terms of Law Schools.
UST is raNKED 7TH AND NOT 5TH
FEU law got a dismal passing rate..FEU-DLSU jd got the higher percentage...the two are different
University of Perpetual Help College Law in Binan, Laguna have a new Dean, Justice C. Vasquez Jr. They have good professors and very conducive place of learning. Their full tuition fee for freshmen I think is only P26K/sem, miscellaneous included.
hi. what do you think is the best pre-legal course?
can i just ask how much is the tuition fee at up now? for the person who can pass the entrance exam? and do they even grant scholarships?
I think PUP college of law is the cheapest when it comes to tuition fees, according to their wb site per unit is only 500php. I just don't know how the school performs when it comes to the subject matter. :D
why they did not put the exact or a sample computation of tuition fees for law student? In that way, the applicant's can rely if they afford to enroll.
The link for San Beda? can anyone tell me how much is their tuition fee?
Tuition fee in SBC-COL is 47k i think for 1st year 1st semester then a few thousand cheaper by the next sem...
Hi.
For new entrants to UP Law, the tuition may run somewhere between 20T-35T per semester, depending on the number of units that you're enrolling in. UP has a complicated tuition scheme because students are categorized into different economic brackets, and your tuition per unit will depend on which bracket you get classified to. The highest bracket, I think, pays 1,500 per unit. Until about four or five years ago, the tuition in UP Law was 300 per unit.
And yes, there are plenty of scholarships available. These are mostly sponsored scholarships from UP law alumni and prestigious law firms, but the college manages the applications for the sponsors. Each scholarship has its own set of eligibility requirements but it's not that hard to get one.
Just want to ask if 2.80 GPA in an undergraduate degree can take LAE?
I already took 18 units of English, 6 units of Mathematics, 18 units of Social Science and 3 units of Rizal course.
Which Law School offers easy LAE but has good quality education? Thanks.
BTW, hows FEU, UST and San Beda LAE and Tuition?
this is very helpful! thank you =)
Hello, good day! In your assessment, what is more competitive when it comes to Law school? FEU or UST? I need reply, thanks po.:)
i think slu deserves a place based on the debate at anc it proved that slu can compete with the high standard schools
well, law is a very interesting course,,but to think that lawyers must have to lie and do everything just to win the case is an easy way to go hell..hehehehehe.
FEU or UST law?
dear lord! i dont understand why others give high regards to FEU when (insert gasp here!) FEU is just an average school with a rather posh looking campus... FEU is not even an option after one gets debarred from UST.
seriously, if you didnt make it to ateneo or up, the only options you have are BEDA or UST...
Misplaced yata yang gilagay na FEU s top five.surely this article is hoax.....para lng mconsider feu among top performing law schools...in reality........they never had that reputation as a lawschool.
Why is it some gives a violent reaction regarding FEU Law School?? Its a dual program.. You'll get a credential as a FEU law stud grad and an MBA from LaSalle!! Technically FEU Law grad sila..
Its a bit misleading ranking the top 10 schools by just showing passing rate for one year, in this case 2010. I suggest post passing rate for the each school for the last 5-10 years. With this you can also see which schools are improving or otherwise.
Wow!!! Iskolarngbayan hit 'em good! He is not a product of feu and yet has the strong conviction to defend the truth; and yes he's done his research well re: feu's performance over the last 10 yrs.
I salute u dude. You are gracious to whom it is due.
the feu-dlsu was a tie up program.. feu institute of law is a different entity...
pangmamaliit bang maituturing pagsinasabi mo ang katotohanan?
I appreciate that someone took a time to do some research here, but iskolarNGbayan, in case you haven't noticed, what we are talking here is the present performance of the school... 1940's to 1980's may have been fruitful but you can not dwell on that... in this dog eats dog world, the past is just a picture of things that once was, the more important thing is the "NOW".
and FACT IS, FEU law is not doing good! get the drift?
so proud of UNIVERSITY OF CEBU
Ang funny ng mga serious comments dito. I'm searching for a good law school too and since I'm from UP, of course I want to be in the best law school diba? pero reality check, not everyone can pass the entrance exams of UP and Ateneo Law school. Kaya dapat may back up talagang so-so law school :) But FEU? top or not, i'm not considering it. Maybe ask lawyer friends or other law students.
wow grabe nmn makapang lait ung isa dyan.. ok OU FEU ay isa n sa pinaka best pagdating sa Law. actually eh may banner n yan sa tapat ng FEU so ibig sabihin FEU talaga... at ung FEU-DLSU ehhh dual colleges. FEu ay for IL at DLSU for MBA so specifically sa FEU talaga un ok?.. why dont you check that latest news on FEU website para maliwanagan kau...aminin mn ninyo o hindi. nagEEXCEL na ang FEU. dahil narin cguro sa sobrang pagmamataas ninyo sa school ninyo at patuloy na pagdodown sa feu. im just an average student and in a middle class lifestyle at masasabi ko na it is worth it that im studying at FEU :)
did i need to study political science before i go at the law course? what it is advantage?or does it really important?
is the feu-dlsu (juris doctor mba) still exist? where can i possibly inquire on the program?
does anyone know kung magkano aabutin per sem (tuition and misc. fees) sa kga sumusunod na law schools? thanks. :)
UP
San Beda
UST
Baste
Perpetual
thanks
Thanks for this article. It really helps alot! thank you. I'll go for up, san beda, ust and feu. :)
Bar Paasing rate is not the measurement of QUALITY LAW SCHOOL..it's just a number and percentage pero yung Sinabi nyong QUALITY ay wala,as in WALA..
Recently, Phililippine Association of Law School released the TOP 10 Law school according to passing rate in 10 yr period at Pasok ang FEU-IL dun.Ranked 9..
FEU produced 124 bar passers in recent bar exam. I think this is fair enough to be consider FEU as one of the best law school..just saying
hi there. i just want to ask, if nag kecredit ba ang FEU ng subjects if galing sa ibang schools like baste?tyvm.
Hello. If ever ba na kukuha ako ng law sa Baste e ma-ce-credit ang mga subjects ko kapag nag-transfer ako sa FEU kapag second year na ako? Thanks
LEGAL EDUCATION BOARD CITES AUSL AS OUTSTANDING LAW SCHOOL
By: John Paul Galang
The honors just keep rolling in. The Legal Education Board (LEB) is set to present Arellano University School of Law (AUSL) with an Award for Outstanding Law School being among the Top 10 Best Performing Law Schools in the Bar Examinations of the past 10 years.
The award, which came on the heel of two Arellanistas bagging 3rd and 10th places in the 2010 Bar Exams, will be conferred on November 11 at the Manila Pavilion during the 2nd Anniversary Celebration of the LEB.
AUSL registered a passing percentage of 42.90% in the last 10 years (2001-2010) to place 7th in the Top 10 list based on the official records of the Office of the Bar Confidant.
Dean Jose R. Sundiang will also receive a Plaque as Outstanding Law Dean in the said event, which will be attended by Supreme Court and Appellate Court justices as well as officers and members of the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS), Phjilippine Association of Law Professors (PALP), and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).
"I was surprised when I learned about this award," said Dean Sundiang. "We are actually No. 5 among law schools in Metro Manila and 7th over-all in the entire country."
Not resting on this recent achievement, he added: "I hope we can maintain our standing or even improve it in the future. I am confident we can do that if we can address the challenges confronting us."
Topping the list of Best Performing Law Schools in the Bar Exams is Ateneo de Manila University with an 89.03% average, followed by San Beda (85.74%), University of the Philippines (79.84%), Ateneo de Davao University (64.99%), University of San Carlos (61.23%), University of Santo (60.22%), AUSL, Xavier University (38.90%), Far Eastern University (33.14%), and University of San Agustin (31.63%).
The Top 5 schools will receive an Award for Exellence in Legal Education, while the 6th to 10th will be given the Award for Outstanding Law School.
Arellano University President Francisco P.V. Cayco, Director Florentino S. Cayco III, and Vice Dean Virgilio B. Gesmundo will be joining Dean Sundiang in accepting the award for the school.
The school learned of the recognition through an official letter from former Justice Hilarion Aquino, Chairperson of the LEB, addressed to the Dean's Office.
The LEB, created through Republic Act No. 7662 or the Legal Education Reform Act of 1993, is mandated to supervise all law schools and continuing legal education providers in the country. Among the members of the Board are representatives of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS), Philippine Association of Law Professors (PALP), active law practitioners, and bonafide law students.
Hi, i would like to ask about san sebastian's reputation as a law school...thanks
FYI
For those who degrade the Reputation of FEU Law.
FEU - IL produced 124 new lawyers with 49% passing rate
FEU-LS JD-MBA has a passing rate of 79%..
it's funny how these FEU-fanatics reacted on your review.. haha very defensive
nice hub tho! :) keep it up!
Go FEU.
FEU IL is reputable enough but DLSU-FEU law is much better...but i cannot see the latter existing in a couple more years lalo na pag magkaroon na ng barista ang DLSUCOL. In due fairness to UST the FCL has improved (tremendously) this year with an 88% passing rate for firsst timers higher than FEU-IL. But either way all of the schools mentioned are good but FEU-IL should improve more.
Legal Education Board .......FEU is One of the OUTSTANDING LAW SCHOOL..alongside with UST,XAVIER and Arellano..
anu pa mga pinagsasabi nyo..lol
How about the University of Batangas or Batangas State U? the're close to home you know. At least my home, that is.
i love to school in DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW
I'm about to take up law at I chose FEU-IL kasi sobrang simple nila, I mean they are not bragging what they achieved, unlike sa ibang school. Cory Aquino is a former FEU Law student at masasabi ko na ang FEU ay di lang institution that produces good lawyers, nagpoproduce din sila ng mapgapakumbabang tao..
PS:
How I wish magkaron ng uniform ang FEU-IL para mas maging established sila. :)
why is la salle included in the best law school? and another, this should be the right listing:
1. ADMU
2. SBC
3.UP
